Calle recently moved to Albuquerque from Texas and has been a PATH certified instructor for 7 years. Calle earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University (“whoop!”) and her Master’s in Public Administration from Sam Houston State University, and has been around horses for 17 years. She is passionate about making a difference in her community by helping others and loves reading books from her personal library, enjoying the outdoors and drinking coffee (sometimes simultaneously). Please join Twuana, Mike, and the entire herd in giving Calle a warm welcome to Loving Thunder. We are excited to have you here Calle!
Aimee recently completed the four-month intensive Instructor Training Course at High Hopes, a PATH International premier accredited center. While at High Hopes, Aimee volunteered in the Equus Effect program for veterans. Following her Instructor Training Course, Aimee taught therapeutic riding at Little Britches in Connecticut. Prior to becoming a riding instructor, Aimee, worked with Youssef Khoulou and Relation Cheval, in France. Relation Cheval teaches communication skills using Natural Horsemanship techniques. Aimee is also a documentary filmmaker (www.caminoveritefilms.com), believing in the power of stories to help us heal. Her next film project, which focuses on the Sacred Feminine is a collaborative effort with James Fax, a Native artist. Aimee is passionate about helping others to heal whether in an arena with horses or behind the lens of a camera.
Twuana is our Founder, Executive Director, Lead Instructor, and Equine Specialist in Mental Health & Learning. She is a Registered PATH Intl instructor with a passion for horses and individuals with special needs. She stumbled onto the concept of Therapeutic Riding while she was a 4H leader for the Sandoval StarBucks 4H Club. She is the mother of a special needs daughter with developmental delays and Autism. Her search for Equine services for her own daughter made her realize that there are not enough providers and especially ones who truly understand the goals of a parent with special needs children. So in 2008, she got to work becoming certified, forming a non profit, and providing services for families of New Mexico. She makes certain that Loving Thunder Therapeutic Riding is a program about the riders, not what is convenient for the instructor or volunteers. She strives to make certain that each rider is treated as an individual and is challenged to do as much as they can to become an accomplished horseman.
